The Missouri Academy of Family Physicians Outstanding Resident of the Year award is presented to a graduating Missouri resident who exhibits exemplary patient care, demonstrates leadership, displays a commitment to the community, contributes to scholarly activity and is dedicated to the specialty of Family Medicine.

The deadline for nominations is April 30. To ensure your nominee is eligible for this award, please review the judging criteria, eligibility requirements, and limitations below BEFORE completing the nomination form.
Eligibility Requirements (verified by MAFP Staff)
  1. Be a current resident member of MAFP
  2. Graduating from a Missouri family medicine residency program
Nomination and Selection Process
  1. MAFP members, Family Medicine residency faculty, or other members of a Family Medicine residency administrative staff may submit nominations for the award
    Complete a nomination form by April 30
  2. A letter of recommendation from the nominee’s residency program director; if the residency program director is the nominator, please submit a letter of recommendation from another residency program faculty member
  3. A letter of recommendation from a physician colleague, hospital administrator, patient or community leader who has personally worked with the nominee
  4. A current Curriculum Vitae (four-page maximum)
  5. A recent head-and-shoulders photo of the nominee
Judging Criteria
  • The MAFP Member Services Commission will select finalists from all nominations.
  • The MAFP Member Services Commission shall review all finalists’ materials and select the top candidate to present to the MAFP Board of Directors for final approval.
  • Nominees with incomplete packages will not be considered.
  • A minimum of three, but no more than five, letters of support may be submitted as part of the maximum of 10 pages. All other letters received will not be considered.
Award Presentation
  • The annual award is presented at the MAFP Meeting
  • The recipient of this award will receive a complimentary registration to, and one night’s complimentary lodging at the Annual Meeting
MAFP reserves the right to use discretion whether or not to award a nominee annually.
