The Fairbanks Metropolitan Area Transportation System (FMATS), in conjunction with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) and local agency partners, is developing a Regional Freight Mobility Plan (FMP). The purpose of the FMP is to better understand existing freight-oriented attitudes, issues, and needs of the community in order to support on-going planning activities. The FMP will lay out a critical framework for the region's multi-modal freighting system. This plan will be used as a guide in future freight decision-making processes within the region. A successful plan will require participation from various freight stakeholder groups, community organizations, and individual citizens.
