2018 Pride Gala & Award Ceremony Nominations

These awards honor people and/or organizations that have demonstrated leadership by visibly contributing through volunteering, donating, and helping to create a strong and cohesive LGBTQ community in the Des Moines Metro and/or Company Diversity Inclusion.

This year’s leadership awards ceremony will be held during the Pride Gala at the Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 6:30 p.m.

Submitting a nomination is a great way to recognize specific Des Moines LGBTQ leaders, outstanding company Diversity and Inclusion programs and Ally of the LGBTQ community. Details about the awards and how to submit nomination are as follows:

Please provide a written statement (500 words max. and preferably with concrete examples) on why the individual or company should win the designated award(s) for which you are applying / nominating. Give examples of specific activities or programs that have been demonstrating the award criteria.

Selection Process

Three nominees from each category that best fit the established criteria (below) will be pre-selected and published on the CCP website. The Pride Gala Award Committee will make the final selection of the winners.

Winner’s Announcement

The winners will be announced at the Capital City Gala dinner at the Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines on Friday, February 23, 2018.

o   Please inform as many LGBTQ individuals, companies and allies as possible about the Pride Gala Awards.

o   Any Individual or company can be nominated. You can even nominate yourself!

o   No nominations will be accepted after February 9, 2018, at 24:00hrs.

Categories:

1.     Company: Most Engaged Diversity and Inclusion

This award honors the LGBTQ / Diversity and inclusion program that has shown the most involvement both internally and externally over the past year.

2.     Company Ally of the Year

This award honors the most effect Individual ally of LGBTQ community over the past year. The award is based on LGBT community support, participation, service, and sponsorship.

3.     Pride Company of the Year

This award honors the outstanding Des Moines Metro company LGBTQ community. The award is based on company LGBTQ Diversity and Inclusion policy, education and advocacy, community, participation with LGBT organizations, service, and sponsorship.

4.     Pride Best PR and Communications

This award honors the best positive representative of the LGBTQ and Diversity & Inclusion in PR and communications (internal or external) by a workplace pride member in the past year.

5.     Most Active Volunteer

This award honors the individual who best supported LGBTQ in the Des Moines community or workplace over the past year.

6.     Pride Man of the year

This award honors the outstanding male representative of the Des Moines Metro LGBTQ community. The award is based on service to the community, participation in LGBT organizations, volunteering, fundraising, etc. in the past year.

7.     Pride Woman of the year

This award honors the outstanding female representative of the Des Moines Metro LGBTQ community. The award is based on service to the community, participation in LGBT organizations, volunteering, fundraising, etc. in the past year.

8.     Ally of the year

This award honors the most effect Individual ally of LGBTQ community over the past year. The award is based on LGBT community support, participation, service, and sponsorship.
