PREFERENCE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO APPLY BY SEPTEMBER 30, 2014. OPEN TO BOTH 2L AND 3L STUDENTS. DOES NOT COUNT AGAINST CAP ON CLINIC AND EXTERNSHIP HOURS.
Please review the course home page before completing this application: www.ClarkCunningham.org/FLP/index.htm
This course requires real-life judgment, discretion, and professional responsibility, both during fieldwork when lawyers permit you to observe confidential aspects of their practice, and in the client representation component when you will be actually participating in the practice of law on behalf of clients in urgent need. This application therefore requests information to help the instructors evaluate your capacity to undertake such responsibility.
Class is scheduled for Friday mornings because this is when the Cobb County Superior Court holds hearings in domestic violence cases and students are required to observe court hearings and take responsibility for an entire domestic violence case from initial client interview through the day of hearing, a process that usually takes place over a two week period. For some weeks, class will take place in Marietta rather than on the GSU campus.
After completing this on-line form, to complete your application, you must email a current resume and an unofficial law school transcript to Professor Cunningham at cdcunningham@gsu.edu
Enrollment in this course is limited to students who have been pre-approved by the instructors on the basis of this application.
