Group Family Camp 2025 Registration

1st Derwent Sea Scout Group Camp 21 - 23 November 2025

The Derwent Group Camp is the weekend where we bring together youth members from all sections, and their parents, and do as much boating as we can squeeze in.

We will adjust activities if weather conditions demand it.

There will also be a range of land-based activities.

The purpose of the weekend is to get as many of our youth members together, primarily to strengthen connections between the different sections.

Parents are encouraged to attend, join in and help out. Volunteers for kitchen duties and trailer towing can register here.

Child Safety

We take Child Safety very seriously and ask for everybody's support and cooperation. These are the core measures we take to ensure safety:

1. We employ the 'two-deep' policy. No adult will be permitted to be alone with a youth member at any stage. Usually at least two adults will be present with any youth member.

2. Our youth members employ a buddy-system. At all times, youth members should not be alone. Visiting the bathroom, carrying out tasks, etc; very youth member should be accompanied by a 'buddy' at all times!

3. Our leaders undertake considerable training and will only conduct activities when it is safe to do so. While anywhere near or on the water, all members must wear a Life Jacket. Closed shoes (not crocks/thongs) must be worn at all times. When outside, all members are expected to wear suitable clothing, including a hat and sun protection.

4. All adults (and youth members 16 and over) must have a valid 'Working with vulnerable persons' card.

5. All leaders and youth members 18 and over must have completed a Criminal Records Check.

6. Many of our youth members and most leaders have formal First Aid qualifications.

7. While we will not be the only group at Orana (a small group of Girl Guides is expected to be there as well), the camp site is very secure.

8. No youth member is to go to the beach without the explicit approval of a Leader.

COVID 19 & General Health
A specific COVID safe plan is in place. Participants will be briefed at the commencement of the camp, but measures include those we are all familiar with by now – especially a focus on hand hygiene. This camp includes a number of outdoor activities that carry some risk – care and well-being will take precedence over social distancing in necessary circumstances.
