The Intergovernmental Affairs (IGA) Group functions as a subgroup to AMPO's Policy Committee. Its purpose is to strengthen AMPO’s collective policy voice and support MPOs in effectively communicating their national and regional priorities.
The IGA Group is a strategy and coordination group. It is not a voting body or a formal committee within AMPO. The group is primarily made up of MPO staff who work in policy, governmental affairs, and related strategic roles. Review the IGA Group's Standard Operating Procedures here.

The group focuses on:
- Peer Exchange: Sharing effective engagement tools and education strategies.
- Strategy Alignment: Supporting consistent messaging and clear messaging to federal, state, and local partners.
- Feedback Loop: Providing on-the-ground insights on what resonates with key federal stakeholders and advising AMPO staff on policy-focused tools/deliverables for the MPO community.
