Over the last year, Gov. Malloy talked about improving our state's transportation grid through his 30-year, $100 billion Let's Go CT! initiative. A panel was created to make recommendations ways to generate Special Transportation Funds to pay for some of the governor's "key preservation and repair projects," such as I-84 viaducts in Hartford and Waterbury.  There will be much discussion and debate this session on the panels recommendations. Its important for me to have your thoughts.

The panel released its findings in mid-January. I hope you'll consider using the survey below to tell me how you feel about the recent recommendations from the Governor's Transportation Finance Panel to create more revenue to help pay for the governor's initiatives:

  Great idea. Maybe, worth discussion. No, but willing to listen. Bad idea, no.
Increase Department of Motor Vehicles fees.
Increase the 25 cents per gallon gasoline tax to 39 cents over a seven year period.
Increase the 6.35% sales tax to 6.85% and transfer the increment to the Special Transportation Fund.
Implement electronic tolls.
If you are opposed to tolls, would you be inclined to support a toll
system if the Gas Tax was lowered
Lease or sell state property adjacent to state highways and railroads,  for renewable energy generation, development, or public utility.
Employ "value capture" techniques by recovering a portion of revenue gains from high land values resulting in transportation improvements.  
Improve the states use of advertising on public transportation (Buses, Trains, Etc...) .
