As you may have heard, the state of Minnesota has a historic $9.25 billion budget surplus. However, many Minnesotans continue to struggle amidst a global pandemic and its economic impact. What are your top three priorities for what the legislature should do with the surplus?
Fund a Paid Family Leave program for all working Minnesotans
Invest in education to help reduce class sizes and ensure better pay for teachers and paraprofessionals
Infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, transit, and wastewater systems
Projects to address and prevent climate change
Decrease or freeze tuition at public community colleges and state universities
Decrease the cost of childcare for working families
Housing, rent assistance, or programs to end homelessness
Tax rebates, tax cuts, or direct payments to Minnesotans such as stimulus checks
