* Informed Consent

You are invited to participate in a study designed to assess your marital beliefs and expectations. This study is being conducted by Dr. Kelly Campbell, Assistant Professor at the California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), and her two Honors students, Roderick O’Handley and Karina Villanueva. This study has been approved by the Psychology Department Institutional Review Board subcommittee of the California State University, San Bernardino. A copy of the official Psychology IRB Committee stamp of approval should appear somewhere on this consent form.

In this study you will be asked to complete a survey about your beliefs about marriage, infidelity, and divorce. You will also be asked questions about your relationship and demographic characteristics such as gender, age, etc. The online survey should take approximately 35-45 minutes to complete. All of your responses will be anonymous. At no time will your name be requested or recorded during your participation. If you are a CSUSB student, you will be asked to provide your name and SONA ID for extra credit points. This information will be stored separately from your survey responses so to protect the anonymity of your responses. Presentation of the results will be reported in a group format only. Upon completion of this study, you may receive a report of the group results. Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You are free to withdraw your participation at any time during the study without penalty, or to refuse to answer any question that makes you uncomfortable. The researchers do not foresee any risks to you for participating in this study, but it is possible that you may feel uncomfortable answering some of the research questions. If you experience any distress as a result of your participation in this research, you may contact the researchers for assistance, counseling referrals, or resources. Additionally, this study does not provide any direct benefits to individual participants. However, you may learn more about your marital relationship from participating in this study. If you are a CSUSB student, at your instructor's discretion, you may receive 2 units of extra credit.
