Family Connections for Families in St. Charles School District
What's Included? - Family Dinner - Family Games - Children Play Without Electronics - Positive Environment - Parent Discussions - Meet Other Families From Your Community -
Let’s connect in-person to build the “village” it takes to raise a child. Enjoy one evening per week that energizes you through joy and laughter and relieves some stress. How?
Bring your WHOLE FAMILY together (ALL ages are welcome) to:
Be present in conversation while eating dinner served to you. Choose to eat with only your family or to visit with other families. If you have an infant or toddler, please bring food for them.
Enjoy read-alouds of children’s picture books and related activities focused on social and emotional wellness.
Play fun games with your family such as “Feelings Charades,” “Doodle Talk,” and “Picture Story Making” that help your family members learn more about each other, develop a vocabulary of feeling words, practice taking turns, and laugh together.
Children are then given time to play together - WITHOUT electronics - under the supervision of facilitators.
Meanwhile, adults talk together in a group about parenting and self-care topics facilitated by a leader ready to provide stress-relief tips and other emotional wellness information. You may listen or contribute to the discussion as you feel comfortable.
Parents are given time to play one-on-one with one of their children each night of the program.
At least once during the series, each participating family receives a gift card for family activities.
Children thrive within predictable routines - Family Connections has been building and strengthening positive family routines for over 20 years!
