Services for the homeless

For years, Faith based organizations have  been leaders in service to our homeless and vulnerable populations through their various contributions and programs. The purpose of this survey is to identify new potential partners of the City of Tacoma to serve the homeless/vulnerable. We look forward to learning how we may be able to make it easier for your congregation to implement these offerings.

* 9. On May 9, 2017 the City of Tacoma enacted Emergency Temporary Shelter Interim Regulations per Ordinance No. 28430. These regulations will be modified to include Faith-based organizations. The City has received feedback from non-profit and faith based organization that the current policy is not conducive to the services their organizations can provide. If your organization has expressed interest in safe parking or using space for temporary sheltering, please answer the following questions to the best of your ability.  

  • What model of sheltering would you use? (ex: safe parking, mattresses in large shared space)
  • How many residents would it be possible to serve at once?
  • What target population would you serve?
  • Would you prefer to provide shelter on a rotating basis or not? If yes, at what frequency? (ex: provide 3 months of sheltering per year)
  • What types of new resources would your organization require in order to start a program? (ex: portable toilets, staff)
  • Would you be interested in using any existing facilities, such as restrooms or common areas?
