Introduction

Introduction

The Prince Edward Island Federation of Agriculture (PEIFA) has partnered with support from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and the PEI Department of Agriculture and Fisheries to conduct a business risk assessment for the agriculture and agri-food industry on Prince Edward Island. The PEIFA has contracted a consulting firm, MNP LLP (MNP) to aid in the execution of the project.

Purpose of the Project

The aim of the project is to gain a greater understanding of what producers and processors feel are the key risks to agriculture and agri-food in the province. The goal is to help both industry and government gain a better understanding of the main risks as seen by those working in the agriculture and agri-food industry every day.

Our view is that this project is a perfect opportunity to gain invaluable insight into how primary producers and processors are viewing collective risks to their industry in the province of Prince Edward Island - and what specific policies or solutions could be made available to mitigate or eliminate these risks.

The Survey

Our first step is to gather information from through the completion of a survey. The goal of the survey is to gather initial risk information from those involved with agriculture and agri-food on Prince Edward Island. The data gathered in the survey will be used to help inform the project and the overall report that will be developed by MNP.
