Interpreting For Students with Hearing Differences and Visual Impairment/DeafBlind. What Now?
Interpreters, parents, paraprofessionals, interveners, and educators will increase their knowledge about deafblindness and how deafblindness affects learning. Educational interpreters working with these students need to gain skills and knowledge on the student's access to visual sign and/or tactile sign in order to make the necessary modifications for each student. Having this knowledge will facilitate clear communication interactions in the classroom, support the development of interpersonal peer relationships, encourage self-determination, and promote equal access to the general education
curriculum.
