SSMs will be expected to perform their work duties in-person in Fall 2024. This is an on-campus, position, requiring a minimum of 12 hours per week of work.
This application will require you to submit your resume and a cover letter expressing your interest and qualifications for the Student Success Mentor position. If you need support with your resume and/or cover letter, we encourage you to visit LaGuardia's Center for Career and Professional Development in room B-114 or via their website to set up an appointment with a career advisor.
This application does not have a save feature. Once you begin the application you must complete it in one sitting.
Please note that if you are considering applying for on-campus employment with the Peer Advisor Academy or STM Program, the SSM Program cannot employ you in multiple programs. This is because these programs fall within the Center for Teaching and Learning, like the SSM program. Therefore, if you are offered multiple positions, you would need to choose one
Work Authorization
In order to be employed as a Student Success Mentor at LaGuardia, all prospective SSMs need to be authorized to work legally in the United States--or have obtained a valid work authorization as soon as possible after receiving an offer to work as an SSM. While you will not be asked to submit this now, if you are offered the position, you will be asked to provide documentation showing your eligibility to work lawfully in the United States.
Mandatory training:
All candidates who are offered a position with the SSM program must attend and complete a mandatory (paid) orientation on Wednesday, June 26 from 10:00am-1:00pm followed by mandatory (paid) training on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am-3pm beginning Monday, July 1 - Wednesday, August 7.
All training activities (including orientation) are in-person on LaGuardia's campus. This is non-negotiable.
