AFF Welcomes your Feedback
In 2020, the American Forest Foundation(AFF) will review the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) Standards of Sustainability. To guide the process, AFF’s Board of Trustees invites a representative cross-section of forestry community leaders with a stake in the ATFS Certification Program or a sincere interest in forest sustainability on small forest ownerships in the US to serve as an Independent Standards Review Panel (ISRP). Drawing on an in-depth analysis of the ATFS programs stakeholders and partners, AFF seeks representatives of the following stakeholder communities: family and small forest owners, forest industry/end users, conservation and environmental nongovernmental organizations (ENGOs), science and technological communities, foresters/forest workers and state and federal governments. In addition, AFF seeks to bring a range of perspectives, experiences and backgrounds to the ISRP including representatives of American Indian communities, people of color and women. The work of the ISRP is consensus-based and is guided by AFF’s Standard Setting Procedures (currently under review) and the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) requirements for standard setting.
At this time AFF welcomes comments on the American Forest Foundation Standard Setting Procedure, as well as recommendations for the ISRP with consideration for the identified stakeholder groups. Please submit your feedback and recommendations no later than September 20, 2019.
