Supervisor Coaching Series by NIPFC

Many of you over the last few years have wanted to learn others who are supervising family finding/family engagement work so as to build your networks, learn and share from others, have someone to vent to/support/share with etc.  We at NIPFC have been talking about how we might support this need over the years, and now that the virtual platforms have become more consistent, effective and user friendly, we feel it is time to launch this opportunity.

We are offering the opportunity for a group of up to 25 supervisors who have experience leading practice in public/private child welfare settings to participate in a zoom-based coaching series.  The structure will consist of regular meetings at the same day/time of the month for 2 hours in length.  The primary purpose will be to connect experienced supervisors to share experiences & tools of their practice; develop relationships with their peers and to create a network of experienced supervisors who can rely on each other for help and support; and to learn/teach with your peers.

This is intended to be a “graduate-level” opportunity.  The focus will not be on teaching/learning basic family finding practices, nor practitioner feedback.  It is intended for experienced supervisors to learn and share about key supervision concepts and tools such as fostering and sustaining alignment with their unit and across systems; consistently applying effective supervision practices that create more support and accountability for supervisees; systems change work to help establish more of a family based and less agency-based culture; leadership skill support; and other potentially other topics based on the needs of the supervisor cohort.

The group will be fixed in nature, and so will stay together for the year.  No one will be added to the group once it is constituted.  We will strongly encourage you to attend each session, however if a conflict does not permit you to attend a particular session, we understand.  We are capping the enrollment at 25 to allow for rich conversations of differing perspectives and experiences, while at the same time allowing/supporting relationship development amongst the cohort.

To summarize, the basics of this opportunity are:

Regularly scheduled (frequency and scheduling tbd based on your input) 2hour zoom calls, inclusive of breakout room use, experiential learning, presentation, small and large group conversation, polls and between session reading materials TBD.

Each session will cost $25 (for two hours!)
If there is sufficient demand, a second cohort can also be created.  If there are 2 cohorts, one will be led by Bob Friend, Director of NIPFC; the other by Mike Mertz, Senior Family Engagement and Permanency Trainer.
