Question Title

Course Title: Techniques, Materials, and Design Considerations for Strengthening & Repair of Existing Concrete Structures - 1 PDH

Speaker: Sanjiv Inamdar, Senior Director, Strengthening Solutions, Structural Technologies

Lecture Description: Structural strengthening projects may utilize traditional materials such as conventional cement-based and steel materials as well as advanced composite materials (FRP’s) that are commonly used for aerospace applications. The techniques used to design and install these materials for upgrade applications are not common to the engineering and general construction industry which can make strengthening projects even more challenging and complex than new construction.

There are many factors that create the need for strengthening. They include construction and design errors, increase in live load, new code requirements, low concrete strength, voids created during concrete placement, new penetrations and prevention of progressive collapse from blast loads.

Course Title: Uses for Infrared Inspections For Professional Engineers - 1 PDH

Speakers: Mary F. Molle, Jersey Infrared Consultants

Learning Objectives: This presentation will provide participants with insights on applications of infrared thermography, as well as related non-destructive testing, used by professional engineers. This discussion will review common applications such as inspections of electrical systems, flat roofs, and steam. Participants will be introduced to newer applications such as inspection of solar fields, energy savings and LEEDS certifications. Current industry standards that apply to each type of inspection will be reviewed. Generic Scope of Work templates will be made available. Additional technologies, such as nuclear flat roof surveys and electric field vector mapping, will be explained.

Who Should Attend: Anyone involved in building maintenance, construction, or building design should attend. The program is designed to provide information for personnel performing infrared inspections in-house, persons responsible for contracting such infrared services, and anyone involved in preparing bid specs or documentation that may require any infrared survey.

Presenter: The presenter is Mary F. Molle, Vice-President and Director of Operations for Jersey Infrared Consultants. Mary is Level III Infraspection Institute Certified Infrared Thermographer with over 30 years experience in commercial and industrial applications. In addition to her duties at Jersey Infrared Consultants, Mary is on the staff of Infraspection Institute and is active at the local level of RCI.
