Roles and Responsibilities of the Quality Champion
Program Knowledge, Understanding of Metrics and Best Practices
- Clinical Background- Provides a clinical background when reviewing and participating in projects.
- Ensure practice adoption of TCCN approved Clinical Practice Guidelines and Protocols.
Communication
- Practice’s central point of contact for all quality improvement activities.
- Create and maintain communication channels in the practice with team members.
- Communicate back to The Children’s Care Network.
Quality Improvement Techniques & Action in Practice
- Help improve quality of care for patients who use your services.
- Understand, demonstrate, and promote the TCCN vision, mission and values.
- Develop a clear understanding of population health and TCCN initiatives.
- Help to drive improvement with the TCCN quality improvement metrics.
- Articulate the amount of provider time on programs and communicate with TCCN.
- Facilitate small tests of change in the practice. Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles.
- Attend required TCCN Clinical Quality Forums and/or educational opportunities.
- Facilitate with an internal team to drive process improvement in the practice. Hold internal practice meetings where you review performance, program requirements, and identify barriers for success.
- Monitor progress and review of data.
- Utilize recall reports to fill care gaps.
- Advance knowledge of Quality Improvement techniques and scientific principles for quality improvement i.e., IHI Quality Improvement training available.
Compliance
- Review and attest to quality improvement materials and share with peers.
