2018-19 PTA Board nominations

Dear Marbletown Elementary parents,

Would you like to get more involved in your PTA next year? Well, now is your chance!

Did you know that the PTA is responsible for our school’s field trips, assemblies, after-school clubs, artist residencies, a yearbook, a musical production, spirit wear and so much more?

As funding from the state and school district continues to dwindle each year, we parents work tirelessly to ensure our children get the best resources and extra-curricular opportunities, and to enrich and enhance their time at Marbletown Elementary.

But we can’t do it without your help!

An effective and successful PTA can’t exist without the support and involvement of the parents of our students. If you would like to participate in the 2018-19 PTA Executive Board, please nominate yourself below.

Nominations for executive board positions are due by Monday, April 2.
Elections will be held at our general meeting on Wednesday, April 18 at 6 p.m.

In addition, we have several committees that need volunteers for next year. If you would like to volunteer to be a part of any of the committees below, please also let us know your interest.

Arts Committee:
The MES Arts Committee is dedicated to promoting the enjoyment, appreciation, participation and knowledge of the arts. Throughout the year, this committee organizes the school play and the Vanaver artist residence, and arranges for local artists, authors and all-school assemblies and more to foster in our children a love for the arts.

Finance Committee:
The finance committee works with the PTA treasurer in developing the annual budget for the PTA. The budget is an outline of estimated income and expenses for the year.

Fundraising Committee:
This committee organizes the various fundraisers held each year — including movie nights, dances, book fairs, bake sales and more. This committee also provides guidance on standards for PTA fundraising, including selecting appropriate activities, seeking corporate sponsorship, and understanding the legal implications of fundraising.

Health & Wellness Committee:
This committee provides information and education to students, parents, and staff regarding the benefits and values of a healthy diet and lifestyle as well as the means to attain them. The committee will serve as a source of information for the Marbletown Elementary School Community and a leader in these efforts in the Rondout Valley School District.

Garden Committee:
The overall mission of the garden committee is to make sure the school garden is maintained and used for students' experiential outdoor education, including learning about planting and maintaining a garden.

Nominating Committee:
The nominating committee’s responsibility is to review applications and nominate one person for each office as listed in the bylaws. The nominating committee must work diligently to secure the best possible leaders for the PTA each year.
