NT PHN Workforce Development Online Consultation - Alcohol & Other Drugs Workers
Background and context
NT PHN has commissioned The National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA) to undertake an industry assessment and consultation to determine the best pathway forward for workforce development in the AOD sector for the Northern Territory.
The following online consultation is being conducted in addition to face to face consultations and workshops with employees of the AOD sector in the Northern Territory. Your responses to the questions below will help to determine the needs and gaps in AOD workforce development across the NT.
What does workforce development involve?
Workforce development goes beyond the provision of individual education and training to include broader issues such as recruitment and retention, workforce planning, professional and career development and worker wellbeing.
In order to create effective and sustainable AOD workforce development initiatives, a comprehensive systems focus needs to be considered. This includes targeting not only the education and training of individual AOD workers, but also the organisational, structural and systematic factors that impact the ability of the workforce to effectively prevent and respond to AOD issues.
As you make your way through the questions below, we encourage you to not only consider your own individual workforce development needs but also the broader needs of the sector which currently impact its capacity to deliver integrated and coordinated AOD service provision in the NT.
