This survey is part of the World Obesity Federation’s MAPPS II project, which aims to gather insights into obesity prevention, management and treatment from key stakeholders. This survey aims to understand the perspectives and experiences of people working in public health, policy, civil society and research. If you do not work in one of these areas but would still like to contribute to MAPPS II, please consider completing our survey for people with lived experience of obesity and their carers.

Your responses will help identify key challenges, areas of good practice, and opportunities for strengthening obesity-related policies and multisectoral collaboration globally. If you agree to be in this study, you will complete an online survey. The survey includes questions about your professional experience working in obesity in your country, including questions about the health system and policies. It should take you approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Questions in this survey ask about obesity prevention, management and treatment. For clarity, we have provided some definitions below:

Prevention: any approach or activity aimed at reducing the likelihood that an individual will develop obesity. This includes activities targeted at the general population as well as those targeted to those identified as being at a heightened risk of obesity. Examples include, but are not limited to, health campaigns or community programmes which educate populations on the risk factors of obesity and government policies which encourage healthier dietary patterns. Within the health system, examples of prevention may include, but are not limited to, individual-level counselling and education on healthy lifestyles and behavioural interventions.

Management and Treatment: approaches or activities aimed at people living with obesity to prevent excess weight gain, support them to lose weight and/or manage obesity-associated complications. This could include activities that support individuals to make lifestyle changes, medical interventions and/or surgical interventions.
Your participation is voluntary, and if at any point you do not wish to answer a question, you can skip it by not providing a response and moving to the next question. Once you answer any questions, you are unable to withdraw your consent as all responses are anonymous.
