West D Street Speed Calming Survey

Introduction

West D Street is one of Springfield’s most important walking and biking routes in Springfield. It connects downtown to the Eugene Springfield Northbank Path and is the city’s busiest bike corridor, used daily by more than 400 people biking and 800 people walking.

Safety upgrades were completed in summer 2024, including six speed humps and one raised crosswalk, to help slow traffic and create a safer, more comfortable experience. Alongside the speed calming pilot project on Centennial Boulevard, Traffic Engineering Staff are taking a closer look at how these features are working. We want to know if the speed calming measures are improving safety, making a difference in driver behavior, or creating challenges for people who use the street.

Please share your feedback by taking an anonymous survey. It only takes about five minutes to complete and will help guide future decisions about speed calming and street safety. Visit the project webpage to learn more and participate.
