People for Education—in partnership with a variety of organizations and expert scholars—is engaged in a five­-year project to broaden the Canadian definition of school success by expanding the indicators used to measure progress. Literacy and numeracy are essential for further learning and success in life, but up to now, no one has developed an easy-­to-understand set of indicators that answers the question “are we providing students with the education they need for long­-term success?” This survey will help us get a better picture of “what matters” at school—for the future of Canada, and for students’ productive and purposeful lives.
