The Center for Anti-violence Education (CAE)

The Center for Anti-violence Education (CAE) offers basic self-defense strategies and physical techniques through a trauma-informed lens for dealing with different levels of violence, emotional aspects of self-defense, and concrete steps we can take to protect ourselves.
 
A TWO-part Empowerment Self-Defense Online Zoom Training series:

"Staying Safer: Decreasing Tension with NVC & De-escalation"
It is all too common right now in these uncertain times for tension, stress and conflict to increase, particularly when we are confined to the four walls of our homes. Participants in this two-part training will examine and reflect on common communication practices that fuel conflict across power dynamics. Participants will also practice a range of de-escalation techniques that are particularly relevant in the context of stressful times with those we live with.  

Part 1 training will include: 
- Self Defense Circle concept
- Non-verbal communication
- NVC: Non Violent Communication tools
- Self Care

Part 2 training will include:
- Situation Awareness
- De-Escalation strategies - “G.A.M.B.L.I.N” 
- Basic Physical Techniques
- Primary & Secondary Targets
