The aim of this research is to provide more evidence about the specific organisational support needs of voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) working on ethnicity or sexual orientation and how these can be met effectively and sustainably. So we’d like to hear from you if you are a:
a) 'Frontline' VCO or social enterprise that provides services primarily for or represents black and minority ethnic (BME) or lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) communities directly
b) 'Umbrella' organisation or support provider that helps voluntary and community organisations and social enterprises like this to build their capacity
The questions in this questionnaire are split into the 2 categories above depending on whether you are a ‘frontline’ VCO delivering services or a ‘support provider’.
We want to use a broad and inclusive definition of ‘BME’ and ‘LGB’ in this study. ‘BME’ includes ‘black’ and ‘white’ ethnic minorities and refugees and asylum seekers.‘LGB’ includes those organisations that work on sexual orientation issues. We recognise that sometimes these organisations work on gender reassignment issues, however sexual orientation is the primary focus of this research.
The Big Lottery Fund and other funders will use findings from this research to inform their evidence base when making decisions about how to fund capacity building in the future. When findings from this research are available, they will be sent to you automatically if you include your contact details when completing this form.
The questionnaire should take about 15 minutes to complete. If you are interested in talking about these issues in more depth over the phone, or through one of our regional/ national focus groups, there is an opportunity to register your interest at the end of the questionnaire. Thanks for participating.
