Facilitator Submission Form - 2024 Community of Practice Workshop Series

The Northwest Narrative Medicine Collaborative (NWNMC) Community of Practice Monthly Workshop Series is now in its fourth year! Each interactive workshop will focus on developing narrative skills in community. Each month we will select a different focus/topic, and will host a featured visiting facilitator.

Participants should plan on engaging in discussion, writing, creating, sharing, and interacting with other participants. While the topic and facilitator will rotate, the format will be the same.

We will meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Typically this will be on Zoom, but let us know if your preference is for an in-person only event, as we are slowly transitioning toward offering both.

Our focus is narrative medicine, that is, an approach to wellness and healthcare that supports narrative competence—the ability to listen, absorb, and be moved to action by the stories of illness.

Workshop facilitators are responsible for creating and facilitating a one-time workshop experience focused on a specific skill that will expand each participant's narrative medicine practice.

Some examples of workshops include: Social Histories Matter: A Narrative Exploration of the Words We Use to Heal or Hurt; What is Disability? The Social and Human Rights Model; Ripping The Band-Aid Off: Clinical Narratives to Address Racism as a Public Health Crisis.

Participants will bring writing pens and paper.
