Facilitator Submission Form - 2018 Community of Practice Workshop Series

Starting in May 2018, the Northwest Narrative Medicine Collaborative (NWNMC) will begin its Community of Practice Monthly Workshop Series! Each interactive workshop will focus on developing narrative skills in community. Each month we will select a different focus/topic, and will host a featured visiting facilitator.

Participants should plan on engaging in discussion, writing, creating, sharing, and interacting with other participants. While the topic and facilitator will rotate, the format will be the same.

We will meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Lucky Labrador Brew Pub on Hawthorne Blvd. (website).

Our  focus is narrative medicine, that is, an approach to wellness and healthcare that supports narrative competence—the ability to listen, absorb, and be moved to action by the stories of illness.

Workshop facilitators are responsible for creating and facilitating a one-time workshop experience focused on a specific skill that will expand each participant's narrative medicine practice.

Some examples of workshops include: Fiction as a Route to Truth; Poem-on-Poem Building; Writing Dialog to Embody the Other; Metaphor of Illness; Interplay and Medical Narrative.

Participants will bring writing pens and paper.

Selected facilitators will receive a $100 Powell's gift card in appreciation of their time and contributions.

Thank you for your interest in being a workshop facilitator. We will get back to you by the end of April with our proposed schedule and next steps.
