Talking Circle Healing Gathering on Boarding School Trauma, April 11-12, 2024 |
This event is hosted by the Division of Wellness and Prevention in partnership with Behavioral Health. The Talking Circle Healing Gathering on Boarding School Trauma will include presentations by Chief Kenny Blacksmith, Indian residential school survivor, Cree Nation of Canada and Benjamin Jacuk, Indigenous Researcher – Alaska Native Heritage Center. During the Healing event Chief Kenny Blacksmith and Benjamin Jacuk will share their expertise on boarding school history, trauma, and intergenerational trauma. Additionally, we will hear many stories from our elders breaking the silence around this topic in a supportive environment, with time available for others to share as well.
