Your views on the inhaled exposome and lung health |
Thank you for taking part in this survey.
We are interested in your views and experiences of the things you breathe in every day and how they may affect you and your lung health. This includes exposures in the air indoors (at home or at work, for example) as well as in the air outdoors. Examples of such exposures are as air pollution, smoke, cleaning products, fragrances, mould, allergens, ozone, toner dust and air fresheners.
The term inhaled exposome describes the total combination of substances and particles a person breathes in over time, from both indoor and outdoor environments. We want to understand how familiar people are with this concept, which exposures they consider important, and whether they have noticed any effects on their breathing or symptoms.

This survey is being carried out as part of EXPLAIN-IT, a European Respiratory Society research collaboration that brings together patients, clinicians and researchers to study how the air we breathe contributes to chronic lung disease. The results of this survey will help EXPLAIN-IT prioritise their work, including which topics to focus on, what information and tools to develop with patients, and how best to communicate about inhaled exposures and lung health.
There are no right or wrong answers. We are interested in your personal views and experiences. Please answer only the questions you feel comfortable answering. The survey should take approximately (estimated time) to complete.
Responses are anonymous, stored securely, and only accessible to the research team. Results may be published in scientific articles, without identifying any participant.
