The goal of CEIA’s Experience Magazine | Practice+Theory+Podcast is to provide both “place” and “space” for content creators AND content consumers in the world of EL/WIL to learn, interact, share, and collaborate. On the interactive website, you will find articles written by scholars, practitioners, students, and employers/partners. You will find interviews with magazine writers and also with other thought leaders in the field. And, you will be able to interact in real-time via our online discussion board/blog. Our goal Experience Magazine | Practice+Theory+Podcast is to be a destination for EL/WIL listening, writing, reading, thinking, and doing.

Cooperative Education (Co-op): Co-op students are employed in a full-time paid experience related to the student's academic discipline that is supervised and evaluated.

Internships: Students prepare for careers in their field by investigating the applicability of their studies in a domestic or international field experience.

Service Learning: A specially designed learning experience where students combine reflection with structured participation in community-based projects to achieve specified learning outcomes as part of an academic course and/or program requirement.

Undergraduate Research: Students participate in supervised research with a faculty member or qualified professional in their field. This includes independent research undertaken by the student or assistance on a faculty member’s research project.

Study Abroad: All or part of the experience occurs outside of the United States. This includes courses that travel during or immediately after a semester (generally for less than 2 weeks), or a full study abroad program where all instruction and coursework occurs abroad (generally 3 weeks or longer).

Student Teaching: These experiences are intended to give students the professional point of view and practical understanding essential to the preparation of effective teachers. In cooperation with area school systems, practica are arranged in area classrooms, ensuring students of relevant opportunities for observation and participation.

Clinicals: Students associated with a healthcare-related degree program are mentored in hands-on patient care in a variety of medical environments, including local hospitals and global opportunities in non-traditional health care settings.

Performances and Juried Exhibitions: These include student productions and professional shows in music or theater, or critiqued exhibitions of artistic work.

Practicums and Clinics (Law): An on- or off-campus work experience, which is integrated with academic instruction in which the student applies concurrently, learned concepts to practical situations within an occupational field.

Co-Curricular Experiential Learning: A specially designed learning experience where students combine reflection with structured participation in community-based projects to achieve learning outcomes that are outside of an academic course and/or program requirement.

Experiential Learning Innovation: New and emerging trends in the field of experiential learning, which would include experimental academic partnerships and pilot experiential learning classes.

Student Voice: Articles written from the experiential learning student perspective.

Educational Partners/Employer Voice: Articles written from the experiential learning partner/employer perspective.

Experiential Learning Assessment: Articles that focus on evaluating and assessing experiential learning classes, projects, and activities.

Experiential Learning Theory: Articles that focus on the many theories that underpin successful experiential learning classes, projects, and activities.

Experiential Learning Reflection: Articles that focus on novel and/or established types of experiential learning reflection activities.
