Revised Equality Scheme, Draft Equality Action Plan 2026-2031 and Draft Revised Disability Action Plan 2026-2031 Consultation Questionnaire

The aim of this consultation is to obtain views from stakeholders and service users regarding Council’s revised Equality Scheme and associated Action Plans.

As such Mid Ulster District Council would be grateful if you would respond by completing and returning this questionnaire. Please answer each question by writing your comments in the space provided. The closing date for this consultation is 12 noon on 23 March 2026. We need to receive your completed questionnaire on or before that date.

Consultation Item 1: Revised Equality Scheme
The Equality Scheme has been reviewed in line with Equality Commission Five Year Equality Scheme review guidance. The purpose of a five year review is to examine how those arrangements have been applied and to assess how effective they have been in assisting public authorities to comply with the Section 75 duties. Mid Ulster District Council’s five year review did not provide evidence for substantive changes being made to the Equality Scheme.

Consultation Item 2: Draft Revised Equality Action Plan
Council’s Equality Action Plan has been informed by an Audit of Inequalities. Themes identified for inclusion in the plan from the Audit of Inequalities included the following:

• Health and Wellbeing
• Economic Growth
• Service Delivery-Customer First
• Leadership

Consultation Item 3: Draft Revised Disability Action Plan (DAP) 2026-2031
The draft Equality Action Plan 2026-2031 will deliver on Council’s commitment to pay due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity.

Implementation of the plan will involve striving to improve the accessibility of our services, demonstrating our commitment to valuing diversity and ensuring everyone is treated equally in the delivery of services.

This includes fulfilling our ‘Disability Duties’ under Section 49a of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (as amended by the Disability Discrimination Order 2006) - the Disability Action Plan demonstrates our commitment to:

• Promoting positive attitudes towards disabled people; and

• Encouraging participation by disabled people in public life
