About the ORPA Environmental Leadership Award
This award recognizes a park and recreation professional or agency who has made an outstanding effort during the last one to five years to sustain and improve the environment and/or reduce the environmental impact made by the agency. Nominees’ environmental efforts may include but are not limited to the following categories:
1) Community and/or employee environmental education, including subjects such as water/energy conservation, climate change science, habitat conservation, etc.
2) Implementation of sustainable operations, including resource reduction, changing to more environmentally-friendly products, use of alternative energy sources, etc.
3) Environmental improvements at natural and built facilities, including conservation, restoration, materials re-use or use of greener materials, etc.
4) Mobilization of grassroots efforts or community partnerships to address environmental issues and improvements.
5) Creating and providing environmental stewardship opportunities, including habitat restoration, natural resources conservation, etc.

Nominations are due Friday, August 23, 2019, by 5:00 PM.
To nominate an individual for the ORPA Environmental Impact Award, please answer the following questions and provide any required information as instructed. Contact the Awards Committee at director@orpa.org with any questions about the nomination process.
ORPA Awards will be presented at the 2019 ORPA Conference Awards Luncheon in Portland, Oregon on October 16th. Winners are strongly encouraged to be present to receive their award. If your nominee is selected to receive the award, you will be expected to provide a 2-3 minute video that highlights the winner's contributions. If production of a video is not possible, a 2-3 minute slide presentation with accompanying script may suffice. Videos are not required as part of the nomination process. The video or slide presentation for the winning recipient will be due on Monday, September 30, 2019.
