Each option creates a difference sense of community presence for the library.
All options show library main entry with a large arrow. Each entry will be easy to see from the parking area and includes a book drop into the staff area. Each entry will have accessible parking directly adjacent.
The pedestrian access to the library is shown with a dashed black ( - - - -) line from both North Main Street and from Noice Drive.
All options include shared parking between the existing Credit Union and the new El Gabilan Library but vary between 65 to 70 spaces provided.
All options provide landscaping on North Main Street and Noice Drive with plants that will create a green landscape edge in front of the library.
The site landscaping will have an area big enough to treat water run-off. All options show the same amount of area for water treatment, but in different shapes depending on the option. The water treatment areas will be very attractive and look like a dry creek with native planting and could be designed to be educational with environmental features.
All options include library landscape and outdoor space for library events like children’s story time, quiet reading, and community celebrations. Each option has a variety of space types and sizes.
All options consider safety and security of the community, neighbors, and library users. Entries and paths for pedestrians are clearly visible from staff spaces. Each option has a secured library garden that is only accessible from the interior library spaces as well as a second floor deck, protected from the wind for quiet use.
The interior layout, or arrangement of spaces inside, keeps the Children’s area and the Community Room next to each other to support larger programs. All options include after-hours access to the Community Room without entering the library.
Each option arranges the interior spaces and the flow between the spaces differently.
