Dear Colleague,

Thank you for your interest in being an editorial advisory board member for the Journal of Philosophy of Emotion (JPE). We would like to inform you that although the JPE was working with the Philosophy Documentation Center (PDC), it has decided to decline a five-year contract with the PDC in order to pursue a publication relationship with the Open Library of Humanities (OLH), which aims to provide open access publications at no cost to authors and journals. We believe that publication through the OLH would best serve not only the interests of the JPE, but also its editorial advisory board members, its readers, and the society at large.

The JPE, however, has not yet been offered a contract with the OLH, and intends to submit an application for its next round of applications (end of April 2016). As part of the application process, the JPE’s application will be sent out to be externally reviewed in order to provide the OLH’s Library Board with a recommendation on accepting or denying the JPE’s application. Because the JPE will be a new journal, we would like to provide the OLH’s Library Board, and its external reviewer, with as much confidence as possible in the vision and viability of the JPE. We, therefore, would like to extend this formal invitation to invite you to be an editorial advisory board member for the JPE. We believe that having a committed list of editorial advisory board members who are able to help fulfill the vision of the JPE would greatly increase the JPE’s chances of being accepted for publication through the OLH.

In order to accept this formal invitation and help the JPE secure its publication through the OLH, we ask that you complete the following Good Faith Agreement between you and the JPE by April 15, 2016, in order to give us time to collect and prepare our application materials for the OLH. Doing so will establish you as an official member of the JPE’s editorial advisory board, as well as give you membership to the Society for Philosophy of Emotion (SPE). For more information on the JPE, the SPE, and your relationship with the JPE, as an editorial advisory board member, please see the following JPE FACT SHEET.

Once you have completed the agreement, we will include your name as an official editorial advisory board member for the JPE on the JPE’s website, and add you to the members list for the SPE (unless indicated otherwise). We will also continue to update you on any developments regarding the JPE and SPE.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and support in launching the JPE and the SPE. Please feel free to contact any one of us at inquiries.jpe@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns.

Best wishes,

Cecilea Mun (Founder & Editor-in-Chief)
