Influences of Children's Choice of School Lunch

All children in Early Years (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) are offered free-school meals. This policy was only introduced in September 2014, so here at the University of Reading we are conducting research to discover what influences whether children have free school-meals or a home provided packed-lunch.

We would be grateful if you could help us with this research by completing this brief online questionnaire. It takes 5 - 10 minutes and asks about your views on school lunches and your child's eating habits.

All the data you provide will be kept confidential and securely stored, with only an anonymous number identifying it. Information linking that number to your name will be stored securely and separately from the other data you provide. The data collected will be destroyed once the study has been completed.

Taking part in this study is completely voluntary; you may withdraw at any time without having to give any reason. If you have any questions about the study, please feel free to contact me by email at k.n.harvey@reading.ac.uk or telephone 0118 368 7524.

This application has been reviewed by the University Research Ethics Committee and has been given a favourable ethical opinion for conduct

Thank you for your help.

Question Title

* 11. Thank you for completing this questionnaire. Your responses will help us better understand the influences on children's eating.

An important aspect of this study is the comparison between the influences on children's eating before they begin school, and after they have been at school for a few weeks.  We would therefore like to contact you later on in the year to find out about your child's experience of eating at school. If you are willing to be contacted by us in the future, please provide your email address. We will not use these contact details for anything else or share them with another person/organisation. Agreeing we can contact you does not mean you have to take part in any future research. Thank you for your help.
