The Exmouth 2023 Christmas (Exmas) Lights Competition is organised by the Shire of Exmouth (referred to below as the organisers)

ALL VOUCHERS WILL BE PURCHASED FROM LOCAL BUSINESSES - Winners will be contacted to discuss their preferences. 

Best Home Awards:

1st Place    $500 voucher

2nd Place  $400 voucher

3rd Place   $300 voucher

4th Place   $200 voucher

5th Place   $100 voucher

Best Business Categories Awards:

•              Best Themed Shop Window Display $350 voucher

•              Best Themed Business Display $350 voucher

People’s Choice Best Home Award:

•              $300 voucher
REGISTRATION
1.       The Exmouth 2023 Exmas Lights Competition is designed to encourage community participation and the spirit of giving and sharing.

2.       Entry is FREE for the Exmouth 2023 Exmas Lights Competition.

3.       Entry is only available to homes and businesses within the Shire of Exmouth.

4.       Entrants agree to enter the competition in the spirit in which it is intended and to act accordingly.

5.       Registrations for entry into the competition open Monday 13 November 2023 at 9 am and close Wednesday 13 December 2023 at 11 pm.

6.       Late entries to the competition will not be accepted as the website entry link would have been closed.

7.       For the Best Home Awards, entry can be a house, townhouse or unit.

8.       For the Best Business Categories Awards, entry is a business’s premise.

9.       A business premise cannot win both of the Best Business Categories Awards.

10.    To enter you must register online at: https://bit.ly/49hHCun. No other types of registration will be accepted.

11.    If an entry is not completed properly, then the entry will not be able to be assessed or taken into consideration for the competition. It is the responsibility of the entrant to read all terms and conditions of this competition.

12.    All entrants agree to allow organisers to take and publicise photos of their display in print, digital and social media, including flyers and promotional material.

13.    The Shire of Exmouth reserves the right to disqualify entries that are not consistent with the principles and terms and conditions of entry for this competition as promoted by the Organiser.

14.    The winner will be announced on the Shire of Exmouth’s website and Facebook page on Monday 18 December 2023.
SAFETY

1.       The misuse of electricity can cause injury or death. Entrants must not use any Christmas lights and/or lighting products recommended for indoor lighting only for an outdoor setting and must comply with the safety instructions for all electrical products used.

2.       Electrical safety is paramount and must be exercised at all times. Misuse of electricity could lead to your disqualification from the competition.

3.       Inspections by qualified electricians to check the safety of the entrant’s Christmas lights display, are at the entrant’s expense and are recommended.

4.       Household insurance policies should be checked by each entrant to ensure appropriate cover is available.

5.       Entrants need to consider the impact their Christmas lights display will have on the safety of visiting vehicular and pedestrian traffic and must plan to ensure that any risks are minimised.

6.       Entrants are not to use the footpath, electricity poles, or any property outside their house/townhouse/unit’s physical boundary for any purpose involving their Christmas lights display.

7.       Rental tenants should seek written permission from their landlords before entering this competition.

8.       The Organisers and associated sponsors accept no responsibility for damage, injury, or theft that may occur as a result of entry into the Exmouth 2023 Exmas Lights Competition.

9.       Registered entrants in the Exmouth 2023 Exmas Lights Competition will indemnify the Shire of Exmouth, Horizon Power and other sponsors for all accidents or injuries arising from the negligence arising out of their participation in this competition.
JUDGING

1.       Registered entrants in the Exmouth 2023 Exmas Lights Competition are expected to have their Christmas lights illuminated for public viewing between 7 and 31 December 2023.

2.       Judging for the Best Home Awards will be conducted between 13 and 15 December 2023 from 6.45 pm to 9.00 pm.

3.       Judging for the Best Business Categories Awards will be conducted between 13 and 15 December 2023 during business hours.

4.       Judging for the Best Home Awards and Best Business Categories Awards will be assessed only from the front of the physical address of a property.

5.       ***House numbers must be illuminated and clear to read from the road verge***

6.       Members of the Exmouth community or visitors to Exmouth will be able to vote for the People’s Choice Best Home Award for a home entered in the Exmouth 2023 Exmas Lights Competition during self-guided walking or drive tours to the residences of entrants in this competition. 

7.       Voters for the People’s Choice Best Home Award can only vote for one home.   

8.       Voting for the People's Choice Best Home Award will be available online and opens Wednesday 13 December 2023 at 9 am and closes Sunday 17 December 2023 at 10 pm.  Details will be made available on the Shire of Exmouth’s website and Facebook.

9.    Failure to comply with the Terms and Conditions of Entry for the Exmouth 2023 Exmas Lights Competition may lead to immediate cancellation of any entry or disqualification.

10.    The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
EXCLUDED TO ENTER

1.       Partners, and their immediate family members, of the judging committee are not eligible to compete.
2.      The Shire of Exmouth will determine eligibility at its sole discretion.
