The National Boating Standards Panel is the voluntary-consensus committee authorized by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) to fulfill its role as an American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) Accredited Standards Developer. Panel members represent broad membership interest categories and adhere strictly to ANSI Essential Requirements: Due process requirement for American National Standards.  The Panel develops, reviews, revises, and promulgates knowledge and competency standards for the recreational boater and boating professionals.

Members are appointed by the NASBLA Executive Board for three-year terms, reflecting a prescribed balance of interest categories.
