The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. • Nominations should include a specific example of how the nurse you are nominating met one or more of the ESJH DAISY Nurse attributes described below.
Teamwork: Please describe a time when this nurse demonstrated teamwork that created a better outcome for their patients and staff they work with.
Care & Compassion: Please describe how this nurse demonstrated compassion and caring in the work environment. Share a story.
Exhibits the Mercy Philosophy: How does this nurse demonstrate “Mercy” in their day-to-day activities and care of patients? Share a special example.
Respect: Treats all those that they serve and work with dignity and respect.
Passion for Nursing: How does this nurse demonstrate their passion for the work we do? How do you feel when you work with them?
