Round 3 New Jersey Electric School Bus Grant Program Application Survey

Overview

New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s (NJDEP) Electric School Bus Grant Program provides up to $15,000,000 per year for three years to support schools moving towards cleaner, healthier electric school buses. Funding is subject to availability.

Applications are due by 5:00 pm on Friday, August 28th, 2026.

Who's Eligible?
Under this solicitation, two types of entities are eligible to apply:

School Districts	School Bus Contractors
Schools and school districts who operate school bus services are eligible to apply directly.	School bus contractors are eligible to apply, however, the application must be made in conjunction with a specified school or school district.

Program Funding Amounts

Bus + Level 2 Charging Station**	up to $308,000	up to $338,000
Bus + DC Fast Charging (DCFC) Station**	up to $320,000	up to $350,000

*Overburdened school districts include school districts located in municipalities categorized as overburdened communities.
**Charging station incentives are comprised of an additional up to $4,000 per Level 2 charging PORT (up to $8,000 per Level 2 charging station) and up to $20,000 per DC Fast Charging STATION.
