EMT of the Year Award recognizes an emergency medical technician who demonstrates excellence in the performance of emergency medical services, with their primary role being that of prehospital patient care.

- Advocates for patients and their families;
- Demonstrates professionalism interacting with patients, their families and other medical professionals;
- Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional education; and
- Serves as a role model for and is respected by their colleagues.
Paramedic of the Year Award recognizes a Paramedic who demonstrates excellence in the performance of emergency medical services, with their primary role being that of prehospital patient care.
