Introduction
The Australasian Land and Groundwater Association’s (ALGA) Emerging Contaminants of Concern (EMCOC) Specialist Interest Group (SIG) is conducting a short survey of ALGA members.
The aim is to better understand how the membership — and by extension, the broader industry — would like to engage with the SIG.
We would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to complete this 9-question survey. Your input will help shape the direction of the EMCOC SIG and ensure our work delivers maximum benefit to both ALGA members and the wider contaminated land and groundwater community.
The survey seeks to:
- Identify key emerging contaminants of concern that are of interest to members, to inform our 2025 strategy
- Gauge members’ awareness, understanding, and priorities regarding emerging contaminants
- Determine how the SIG can provide the most value to members through its activities
- Identify opportunities to deliver events, webinars, factsheets and other resources that support the ALGA community and the sector more broadly in the management of emerging contaminants
This initiative supports the SIG’s goals to:
- To improve awareness, build knowledge and disseminate information on emerging contaminants across the contaminated land and groundwater industry sectors (property owners, government, labs, consultants, contractors, auditors, regulators).
- To assist with providing information that will help the industry manage impacted sites, and minimise human health and ecological risks, as developments arise in the characterisation, risk assessment, regulation, and treatment of emerging contaminants, and as new technologies emerge for their management.
- To increase collaboration within the sector to address concerns relating to emerging contaminants.
To help site owners / regulators to better understand emerging contaminants and enable informed decision making.
