From 1 October 2018, you might not be able to receive a prescription for some medicines and treatments that are already available to buy in a pharmacy or supermarket. This is because:

·         there is little or no evidence that a prescribed treatment will clear the condition

·         your condition will clear up on its own (known as a self-limiting condition)

·         it is reasonable for you to treat the condition yourself by buying medication from a pharmacy or supermarket
