Educators may take this self-assessment to identify pedagogical strengths and growth areas for each key component. The self-assessment is designed to be iterative and reflective, and users are encouraged to retake and view progress over time

This survey tool aligns to the best practices outlined for English Language Learners (ELLs) and allows teachers to prioritize the instructional strategies that may be needed in their classroom.

Within this shorter version of the survey (12 questions) teachers are asked to indicate the extent to which each practice is viewed as an area of “strength” or as an area of "need" in their own instructional practice. In this way, the survey can be used as both a professional development needs analysis tool and as a qualitative measure of progress toward your professional development ELL goals.

DIRECTIONS:

On the following page, you will be provided questions which will focus a few of the most critical factors that research has shown to have a significant impact on ELL student learning and achievement.

Please read each of the 12 questions carefully. Please answer as carefully, thoughtfully, and honestly as you can. This will ensure that the results are as valid and useful for you as possible. Please take as much time as you need to complete this survey.”

For each question, you will be asked to rate your response based on the following:

(Important) - How important you think the indicator is in respect to its impact on student achievement?

(Support) - How supported do you feel with this indicator?  (e.g., professional development, instructional leadership, materials, resources etc.)

(Instructional Strength) - To what degree does this indicator represent an area of strength in your own practices on a typical day?

NOTE: TKL will NOT share your individual personal information with anyone without your expressed permission.

RESULTS: At the end of this survey you will be presented a report which will allow you to see how you compare to other educators who have also completed this survey across the country.
