Criteria and Instructions for Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2019 Emerging Leader Award, which will be presented at the 41st SSP Annual Meeting, May 29-31 in San Diego, CA.  

Established in 2012, this award acknowledges the achievements of up-and-coming leaders in scholarly publishing who are demonstrating their potential through outstanding service and contribution.

The award recognizes an SSP member who has:
  • worked in scholarly communication for approximately ten or fewer years,
  • demonstrated outstanding leadership on an SSP committee or task force, and
  • made innovative contributions to his/her field.
If you know an individual who meets these criteria, please nominate them for the Emerging Leader Award. To do so, please review and follow the eligibility criteria and nomination process.

The deadline for submitting nominations is March 22, 2019.
Eligibility Criteria

1. Is an SSP member in good standing.

2. Began working in the scholarly communication field within the last 10 years.

3. Has demonstrated leadership abilities on an SSP committee or task force.

4. OPTIONAL: Has demonstrated leadership abilities on the job and/or within the scholarly communications field outside SSP involvement.

Nomination Process

Any SSP member may submit a nomination packet suggesting a candidate for the SSP Emerging Leader Award. Self-nominations are not accepted. NOTE: Please do not submit a nomination packet unless the suggested candidate has agreed to be nominated.
