Register for Early Literacy 101, a workshop offered by Ohio Ready to Read and led by ORTR trainers Annamarie Carlson from Westerville Public Library, Janet Ingraham Dwyer from the State Library of Ohio, and Alice Mackey from Delaware County District Library. This workshop is supported by ORTR, Pickaway County Library, the trainers, and by the State Library of Ohio with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and is made possible at no cost to you.

The workshop will take place from 10:00 am - 4:30 pm on Friday, November 14 at the Pickaway County Library, 1160 N Court St. in Circleville.

A certificate of attendance will be available on site.

As there are few nearby food options, the library is arranging to order box lunches from an area deli. These lunches will include a sub, salad, chips, drink, and dessert. If you wish to participate in the lunch order, please bring $15.00 cash with you to the workshop. You're welcome to bring your own lunch if you prefer.

* Briefly, what is your background/experience with early literacy? For example, are you very familiar, somewhat familiar, or not at all familiar with Every Child Ready to Read? Do you have an early childhood or education background? Are you knowledgeable about early childhood development and early literacy research in general? (There are no right or wrong answers; this is just to gauge the overall level of background knowledge of the workshop participants).

Plan to bring to the workshop two (or more) picture books that you like and enjoy using in storytime, and one storytime outline. If you don't lead storytimes, bring any picture books that you love, and borrow a storytime outline from a coworker, or locate one online, or contact us for assistance. The books you bring do not have to be on the storytime outline!
