Early Literacy 101 Workshop - November 22, 2019 - Wapakoneta, Ohio

Register for Early Literacy 101, a workshop offered by Ohio Ready to Read and led by ORTR trainers Kate McCartney, Assistant Director at Marysville Public Library, and Janet Ingraham Dwyer, Youth Services Library Consultant at the State Library of Ohio. This is a FREE workshop.

The workshop will take place from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm on Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Central Library, Auglaize County Libraries, 203 S. Perry St., Wapakoneta. Park in the library lot or on the street.

The workshop is 6 contact hours plus a free hour for lunch. Auglaize County Libraries will provide a continental breakfast and a printed list of eateries (most within walking distance) to visit at lunchtime if you so choose. You're also welcome to bring a bag lunch if you prefer.

A certificate of attendance will be available on site.

* Briefly, what is your background/experience with early literacy? For example, are you very familiar, somewhat familiar, or not at all familiar with Every Child Ready to Read? Do you have an early childhood or education background? Are you knowledgeable about early childhood development? (There are no right or wrong answers; this is just to gauge the overall level of background knowledge of the workshop participants).

Please plan to bring to the workshop two picture books that you like and enjoy using in storytime. Also, participants will be encouraged to share a storytime conundrum and a storytime success; that is, one problem, issue, or question you have about storytime; and one successful practice or good idea to share with others. If you don't lead storytimes, you can bring any conundrum and any success having to do with working with young children and their families.
