We want your feedback!

The City of East Grand Forks is seeking valuable community input in future planning for improvements at some of our most valued Recreation Facilities. Projects being considered are focused around three important facilities.  The Civic Center, built in 1974; the VFW Memorial Arena, built in 1982; and Stauss Park ball fields, originally built in 1962.

In March 2020, an initial survey was conducted to gauge interest from our community in the vision for improvements of our indoor ice arenas and Stauss Park ball fields. and to ask if the community would support a 1% Local Sales Tax to fund improvements. As a follow up from the first survey, we’ve listened to your comments and have prepared a more detailed survey to discuss and seek feedback on the top priorities you have in deciding what you’d like our communities recreation facilities to look like.

A few of the necessary improvements to keep our indoor ice arenas viable in the years to come include; Replacement of aged R22 artificial ice systems at the Civic Center and VFW Arena, parking lot improvements at the Civic Center and VFW Arena, and improvements to the interior and exterior structure of the Civic Center and VFW Arena.

There are a few additional design considerations that we want to gauge the importance of as we discuss the scope of these improvement projects. We hope you’ll take 3-5 minutes to tell us how you use these facilities, how you’d like to see them used in the future, and what you think is most important in the list of improvements.
