1. Background

The ONOC Equity Commission (ECO) ACE Award recognizes an individual who has shown outstanding commitment and has made significant contribution to the promotion of women through sport in the Oceania Region.
Only one award will be given each year, and the recipient will be announced at the ONOC General Assembly. If the presentation of the award at the ONOC General Assembly is not possible, then it shall be done at some other prestigious Oceania event.
 
Selection Criteria
1.     Nominees for the Award shall generally be drawn from the following areas of involvement in sport: administration, coaching, or as a technical official. Nominations based solely on athletic performance shall not be considered.
2.     Nominees must have made a significant contribution at the continental (Oceania) or national level promoting the advancement of women and gender equality in and through sport in one or more of the following ways:
·       Exemplary leadership and mentoring, and/or
·       Innovative project(s) and/or
·       Development of a particular sport or event which highlights the involvement of women.

Note: Long term service or involvement with the promotion of women through sport is not sufficient justification for selection on its own.
Process
1.     Call for Nominations: The ECO shall call for nominations through official ONOC communication sent out in November on an annual basis, with information on the award located on the ONOC website page dedicated to ECO - ONOC Equity Commission (oceanianoc.org).
 
Nominations are called from the National Olympic Committees of Oceania and the Organisation of Sports Federations of Oceania (OSFO) member sports and only these organisations shall be allowed to submit nominations.
 
2.     Nominations and Supporting Documentation: Nominations must be submitted using the ECO ACE Award Application Form either by using the Word document attached or an online application generated from the ONOC ECO Secretariat.
 
Nominations should capture the full credentials of the nominee, relating specifically to their commitment and contribution to the promotion of women through sport in Oceania as per the selection criteria mentioned above.
 
Supporting documentation may be submitted along with the nomination which shall also include high resolution photos of the nominee. Additional information may be sought by the Award Selection Panel if deemed necessary.
 
3.     Selection Panel: The Award Selection Panel comprising of three ECO Executive Members will make the final decision as to who the recipient of the award will be. The Award Selection Panel decision is final.
 
Closing Date for receipt of nominations may vary depending on the ONOC General Assembly, but in general by 31 January each year.
