April 22, 2020 is the golden anniversary of Earth Day! In the spirit of the 1 million Americans who rallied for the earth back in 1970, GreenCityBlueLake (GCBL), a department of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and uGO, the sustainable transportation initiative of University Circle, are sponsoring a Ditch Your Car Earth Week Challenge. We are looking for commuters to try an alternative mode of transportation to get to work. We’re interested in taking a few cars off the road, because cars are the biggest source of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas causing the climate to change.

Can you do it? We think so. We want to encourage you with a $100 gift card to L'Albatros. Here's what we ask for in return:
  • Ditch your car and try other ways of getting to work the week of April 20-24th.
  • Share your alternative commuting experience on social media by tagging @GCBL and @uGOcircle at least 5 times throughout the week.
  • Submit a 350-500 word blog post within a week of finishing the challenge about your experience leaving your car at home and getting around other ways.
Participants must be 18+ years old and live or work in or near University Circle. The ideal participants are people who: usually drive by themselves to get to work, are up for the challenge of getting to work for five days without driving by themselves, and are excited to share about the experience on social media and a short blog post.

Apply to participate by filling out this form by March 20th. You will be contacted by April 2nd if you are selected as a participant!
