Algal Floway Project Community Survey 2026

City of Durham Environmental and Street Services - Engineering & Stormwater Division

What is an algal floway? An Algal Floway is a pollution control measure that uses the controlled growth of algae to clean up nutrient pollution from waterbodies such as Falls Lake. The City of Durham has completed a successful pilot test of this technology and is looking at possible sites for the construction of a full-scale algal floway to help meet State water quality rules and keep Falls Lake clean. Your participation in this survey is appreciated during this important phase of Site Evaluation and Identification in Durham County.
