Staff of the Planning & Economic Development Department, along with Smart Commute Durham are conducting a quick survey to compile employee feedback on the feasibility of engaging the Alternative Work Arrangements (AWA) program in this department.

There are three types of Alternative Work Arrangements:

1. Compressed Work Week;
2. Flexible Work Hours (Flexhours); and
3. Teleworking (Working from home).

Please read the three types of Alternative Work Arrangements programs below and complete the survey to provide the Planning & Economic Development Department additional information to explore AWA feasibility.

Compressed Work Week
Under a Compressed Work Week Arrangement agreement, the employee may reduce the number of days they work, usually on a bi-weekly pay period, by increasing the number of hours the employee works per day by the proportional amount, so that the standard number of hours are still worked in total during that period but in fewer days.

Flexible Working Hours (Flextime)

Under a Flexible Work Hours Arrangement agreement, an employee may work the standard number of hours on a daily or weekly basis but with flexible start, lunch and/or finish times.

Teleworking (Working from home)
Under a Teleworking arrangement, an employee fulfills his or her regularly scheduled job responsibilities from a remote location away from the official workplace (usually the employee’s residence or another Regional work location) on one or more of their working days per week.
